Boys Boys Boys..

.. In the whole time I have been working as a Fashion Assistant and Stylist I have only worked on two menswear stories. I recently began working with/ assisting Stevie Westgarth who is predominantly a menswear stylist and I worked on our first photo shoot last week.
I have never really followed menswear collections even though the classics always catch my eye like Jil Sander, Prada, Dior Homme and even then I never paid that much attention.

I always thought menswear must be harder to work on than womenswear as the choice is distinctively smaller in terms of clothing items and there is the risk of it all looking pretty 'samey'. Though looking through the collections with a story in mind it is actually very interesting and even with the obvious variation of suits, shirts, trouser length etc.. there is much more to see than I thought there would be.

I also get emails now from Model Agencies with pictures of half naked men which is always a bonus but I do understand you're not allowed to touch them (on purpose)! Anyway here are some of my favourite pieces of Stevie's work and I am happy to be working with him and I like that I am still learning all the time.

The New Vogue

Since Francesca Burns has been Fashion Editor at Vogue UK there have been some outstanding changes in the fashion editorials. The classic Vogue that every one knows and loves has been completely shaken up with Fran's personal style, but she has also been able to keep things interesting and wearable for all Vogue readers. I am a huge fan and follower of Francesca Burns and was lucky enough to work with her once back in 2009. She does have a signature style and instantly recognizable work but at the same time manages to stay very fresh and is always one step ahead of the game.

I get excited again about buying Vogue now and I am sure many others do too. Reading the March Issue, it was no surprise to see such an absolutely beautiful Americana Story and it features my ultimate favourite mega babe Abbey Lee Kershaw. Using all of the best designer collections for such a popular story this season, but creating a goddess with a contemporary and vintage look.

Siobhan Lyons - Tribal Sweetness and Loveliness

What a lovely day.. I'm listening to the intense, bring-down-the-nation wind outside my window and browsing one of my favourite fashion websites, Volt Cafe and I come across some work from one of my new favourite Stylists Siobhan Lyons.

This bright, colourful, wonderfully interesting editorial by Siobhan really put a smile on my face and stopped me in my tracks while flicking through the stream of seemingly endless images that you can see on the website. With the classic clashing of prints and textures that I am always blabbing on about and such a fresh background to exaggerate the finer details in the layers and accessories, I would like to say this is one of Siobhan's best pieces of work so far!

I suggest everyone keeps their eye out for this lady as she will definitely be up there with some of the best stylists around in the near future. I am happy to say that she is also one of the nicest girls I have ever met. There is only a handful of stylists that are genuinely down to earth as well as being unbelievably talented and Siobhan is one of them! Hoorah for niceness.
